About Me

A 30 something lesbian coffee drinker from London attempting to record and share our ttc journey. Hobbies and activities - dining out with The Wife, increasing our carbon footprint, napping, over sharing on Facebook, hunting for decent second hand book shops, pretending to knit.

6 weeks pregnant

This journey has not been without drama. My very first beta was low - 32 from memory and we were extremely panicked. But it did it's thing and kept doubling - yay!

At 4 weeks and 3 days (so 3 days after OTD) I started bleeding. Fresh, red blood - awful. We rushed off to A and E (ER) - The Wife struggled to park the car, the receptionist was huffy I couldn't remember my GP's name, I got a bit hysterical and burst into tears and then proceeded to shout at her.... all very hormonal and dramatic. Anyway. I had an internal.... and they confirmed I was indeed still pregnant. They referred me to the EPU and we went along on the Monday where they did another internal and basically confirmed the blood was old blood. Still not sure if the bleed was implantation bleeding or something else but thankfully it has now stopped. A week ago they called me back for an early scan - obviously too early to hear a heartbeat but nice to get a little reassurance. Sac was seen, yolk sac also seen. Second possible sac seen (!) but too early to tell. My gut says its an empty sac but we shall see - our next scan is in 5 days.

I'm trying to not get too attached - I know it's early days. I know anything could happen. I just want the next 6 weeks to whizz by so we can finally breathe a little. *puffs into paper bag*

A little concerned about lack of symptoms (too early?) - at 5 weeks I felt nauseous every day. Now it has disappeared.... I am however, constantly exhausted and usually asleep by 8.30pm each night. I have on/off AF type cramps which apparently indicates the uterus is stretching. I also have horrendously bad skin - my skin is usually perfect! I'm also eating a lot of ice cream but that's more greed than craving (heheh)

Please keep your fingers crossed for us... I though the 2ww was bad but this part is so stressful. You're pregnant but you're constantly waiting for reassurance scans and you're aware nothing is set in stone yet.

Baby dust to all xoxox
